BACK to BASIC - Witnessing

-By: Askel Dela Cruz,

Jesus Christ commissioned the early apostles and brethren to
"Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature."

From Jerusalem, the gospel of Christ made its way throughout the known world. Apostle Paul led the preaching of the good news outside Israel. In Acts 8:4, it was documented,
"They that were scattered abroad went every where preaching the word."

The disciples were empowered by the Spirit to preach the gospel (Acts 1:8; 2:1-4). And from thereon each believer was a witness of God's power. Their lives became light in the dark world system of sin. As the Philippian brethren were admonished,
"That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world; Holding forth the world of life." - Philippians 2:15-16

They were empowered by the Spirit to do God's will.
The Church is the witness of Christ. We are witnesses to His love and righteousness. We are witnesses to His saving grace. We give testimony to what God has dome through our Lord Jesus Christ. We are the showcase of God's marvelous love through the preaching of the gospel.

And we witness not only by our oral proclamation but also by our godly lifestyle.
In Matthew 5:16, Christ said,
"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is is heaven."

Through our lives, people will see what can do to those who believe in Him. Thus, let us be witnesses of Christ in this end of the last days.
